Recovery after hernia surgery can be slightly uncomfortable and it's recommended that you take a few days off work after surgery.
It's best not to swim for around two weeks, and to shower rather than take a bath over that time as well. You should refrain from heavy lifting for a month, and try not to exceed 10-15 kilograms, particularly after open surgery. Instead you might be able to do things like walking or cycling. Talk to your healthcare team if you're unsure.
If you discover a lump or a dragging sensation in the groin, see your GP.
